Current HPPS Projects

Contact the project manager (hppsprojects@uu.nl) if you want additional information about the projects or have other questions.

The idea of the project is to create a journal for the HPPS community, where we provide updates about current research internationally, nationally, and at the UU, as well as provide a platform to exchange news about the HPPS community. Each semester a new issue is created, with each a topic to develop critical awareness.

We are making a podcast about pharma-related topics, which aims to debunk myths, increase awareness, and fight misinformation about science in the media. We wanted to make a podcast specifically because we believe that through a podcast, we will be able to reach more people, and it’s a format that we never really use, which makes it more challenging and exciting to work on. In each episode, we focus on a specific topic, ranging from mental health to past epidemics. We usually split into smaller groups, each working on a different episode. We chose the subject based on our interests. Some attacks we have already recorded or are working on include an episode about Study Drugs, animal testing and alternatives, and mental health. Interested, you can now listen to them on Spotify through this link:  https://open.spotify.com/show/7pu73FUyK0kBJcwzXh7LtC

We want to create an Instagram page to post about mental
health (disorders/diseases and other mental health problems). For example, depression, anxiety, schizophrenia, self-confidence, and body positivity. We intend to post information about what it is, neurobiology, treatment, and advice.

There is a project busy updating the current reading list on the website. Together, everyone reads a pharmaceutical related book and come together to discuss the contents. Often a guest speaker joins the session to help guide the discussion. Want to join the book club? With any questions, you can reach out to b.m.kwiek@students.uu.nl or m.mitof-visurski@students.uu.nl. You can also join the WhatsApp group directly by clicking the button below!

The first project being more about making your own studies more sustainable, the second project is an interdisciplinary approach to sustainability where we can use each other’s knowledge to come up with great new solutions. The third project is about involving LGBTQ+ more within our community, and the last project is about involving neurodiversity more within our community!
